Dirty Air Results In Dangerous Health Risks!

A new study, published by the American Heart Association, has linked breathing dirty air with increased stress hormones. These increased stress levels can be directly correlated with an increased risk in heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and a shorter life span.

The study utilized a randomized, double-blind crossover trial with 55 health college students in China. The students’ dorm rooms had a real or sham air purifier added for 9 days and afterwards the students had multiple tests run, such as blood pressure, hormone, and insulin resistance tests.

The analysis showed that the students given the sham air purifiers led to significant increases in cortisol, cortisone, epinephrine, and norepinephrine, or, in other words, stress hormones. The study was able to conclude that high particulate matter air is directly correlated with adverse health outcomes from higher stress levels.
